These compact appliances, often called beauty fridges, are designed to store skincare products such as serums, face masks, and creams. By keeping these items cool, they not only enhance the user experience by providing a soothing application but also help preserve the integrity of sensitive ingredients like vitamin C serums.

However, this trend has taken a concerning turn. A recent recall by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has raised alarms about the safety of certain models of these mini fridges. Specifically, the Paris Hilton Mini Beauty Fridges, manufactured by Epoca International, are being recalled due to a potential electrical hazard.

The Recall: A Potential Fire Risk

According to the CPSC, the affected models have an electrical switch that could short-circuit, overheat, and even catch fire. This issue has led to at least 27 incident reports from consumers who purchased the units. While no injuries have been reported so far, some customers have experienced damage to their units and surrounding surfaces.

The recall affects over 110,000 units, including both 4-liter and 10-liter models available in pink, white, aqua, and hot pink. These units were sold online through retailers like Walmart and Amazon, as well as in-store at Walmart and Ross between November 2022 and July 2025. Given that these fridges are marketed for bathroom use, where flammable items like towels and toiletries are common, the CPSC is urging owners to stop using the affected units immediately.

How to Check if Your Fridge Is Affected

If you own a Paris Hilton Mini Beauty Fridge, it's crucial to determine whether your unit is part of the recall. Only those manufactured before August 2024 are affected. If you purchased a unit after this date, it is considered safe and will not qualify for a refund.

To check if your fridge is included in the recall, look for the model and serial number. On the 4-liter model, these details are typically found on the back, while on the 10-liter model, they are located on the bottom. The affected models include numbers PH11887, PH11887-1, PZB02-E001, PH12540, PZP01-E001, and PZW01-E001. Serial numbers start with 2024, 202206–202406, or 202206–20240704020.

Steps to Take if Your Fridge Is Recalled

If your unit is part of the recall, the CPSC advises you to unplug it immediately. Next, you should register for the recall on Epoca International’s website. To qualify for a refund, you must submit three photographs:

• One showing your unit with "RECALL" written across its door using a permanent marker.
• Another displaying the model and serial number tag clearly.
• A third showing the fridge's cord cut into pieces, with a card containing your name and contact information visible in each photo.
