Selena Gomez Shares Insights on Mental Health, Career, and Love on Therapuss Podcast

Selena Gomez recently joined the Therapuss podcast, where she had an in-depth conversation with host Jake Shane. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, from her acting career to her mental health journey and her relationship with producer Benny Blanco. Throughout the interview, Gomez opened up about her experiences, values, and personal growth.

Rare Beauty: A Platform for Mental Health Advocacy

Gomez began by reflecting on recent events in her life, particularly focusing on her cosmetics brand, Rare Beauty. Launched in 2020, the company is more than just a beauty line—it’s a platform that supports mental health organizations through its sales. For Gomez, this initiative was deeply personal.

"I tried to share my story in hopes that it would be something to help others," she said. "I think I did that when I admitted that I had struggled through my bipolar diagnosis. So that was more of a release for me."

She emphasized that every project she's involved in must have a purpose beyond just profit. "It has to give back and some sort of element. That just always has been my key demographic—people who don't feel seen or heard or even know what's going on in their own mind."

Gomez also highlighted the importance of therapy and medication in her life. "I just believe in therapy," she said. "I'm on medication and I feel really lucky that I'm in the position that I'm in now and I believe in all of that."

A New Chapter with Benny Blanco

Another major topic of the conversation was her engagement to Benny Blanco. The couple confirmed their relationship in 2023 and became engaged in late 2024. They also collaborated on the album I Said I Love You First in March of this year.

Gomez expressed excitement about their upcoming wedding. "I couldn't be more excited," she said. "There's so much happening at the moment with [Blanco] working on some projects that he has to wrap up, and we just have things we want to finish and our own personal endeavors before we get into all the nitty gritty."

She added, "I just have really never felt so sure about something, and I also don't want to jinx it by saying that."

Shane asked how they first met, and Gomez shared that their initial connection was casual. "I feel like he was an acquaintance, if that makes sense," she explained. "To be honest, we weren't besties. I just thought he was nice, and then we did a few songs together."

Their friendship eventually deepened after working on the 2023 song "Single Soon." "We spoke for two hours, and I asked him to hook me up with anybody that he knew that was cute, and he was like, 'Oh, we do these things, these dinner nights. You should come.'"

From there, their relationship blossomed. "And next thing you know, we're dating," she recalled. "But he was terrified in the beginning because he was like, 'It's work and it's complicated, and people are going to get mad,' and I'm like, 'I don't give a s–t; kiss me.'"

Looking Ahead

Gomez's appearance on the Therapuss podcast offered fans a deeper look into her life, highlighting her commitment to mental health advocacy, her passion for her work, and her growing love story with Benny Blanco. As she continues to navigate her career and personal life, her openness and authenticity remain central to her journey.
